Latin Quarter

Latin Quarter Exploration 11/02/2022

Today ended up being a 17,000 step day. We had nothing really, on our schedule. Just trying to get over jet lag. We turned in last night around 8:30 PM and woke up around 2:30 AM. We stayed up until 4:00 AM and went back to bed. We got up around 10:00 AM, we had coffee, and I wrote yesterday’s blog. We got underway around 1:00 PM, in search of Ernest Hemingway’s home and a local market. We found Ernest’s home, decided it was time for lunch. We had a nice sidewalk lunch, overlooking a small square. I found out later this square was a prominent place in the bygone era’s of France. It saw a great deal of use as a site for public executions. Moving on, we left in search of the Marche (market), which we found. By now the time was 3:00 PM. The market closed at 1:00 PM. We headed back to the apartment, but on the way, we stopped by a bakery and bought some pastries for breakfast the next day.

We decided to take a walking tour of Paris, so we walked from the Latin District to Montmarte. This is where we got a good portion of our steps. Our destination was the Sacree Fleur restaurant. (Sacred Flower). I made reservations here about 2 months ago. You are not going to get in without one. I had to re-confirm my reservations 2 days before. It was worth it. I had Escargot Normandy style. A great dish. In English terms, a bowl of snails. Linda had a salad and her main course was duck. My main course was Filet of Beouf. This restaurant had about 8 tables and it was packed. If your travels bring you this way, put this on your list, but make a reservation, first.

Our day was done. We had our steps, called for a taxi, and returned to the Latin Quarter.
